The Top 3 Things U Can Learn from a FIFA World Cup Player
If you’re alive and paying attention to the world around you at all, you know that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is currently going on. As we were watching the game yesterday I realized that even though these players are clearly some of the best in the world, there are still some basic things they practice that we can also do in our own lives. Feel free to add to the list but these are the top three things that jumped out at me:
1) They take care of their bodies.
These players clearly are amazing athletes with incredible bodies but they weren’t born that way. They worked and continue to work hard every day to make sure they’re are able to do their jobs on the field. While you might not need to be in the same kind of shape as one of these players, they are a great reminder of just what our bodies are capable of if we feed them and treat them right. Take care of your body and watch what you’ll be able to do!
2) They think like winners.
I guarantee you that these players don’t go to bed at night imagining what it will be like to lose. While those fearful thoughts surely creep in once in awhile, these guys are experts at imagining the winning moment. In fact, one of the players said that he dreamt he got a winning goal and then he did! They think it and they create it. We can use this approach in our own lives as well. When you start thinking about fear or losing, stop your thoughts and re-imagine a successful outcome. Our mind believes what we tell it so think like a winner!
3) They don’t give up.
What would happen if every time they lost they said “Oh well, clearly we’re not good enough. We might as well give up.” They obviously wouldn’t be a very good team and they would also be out of jobs because their countries and their coaches expect them to keep fighting. It’s important for us to not give up when we fall or fail. And believe me, you’re going to fall and fail a lot in life but that’s how you learn to get better and stronger and that’s also how you figure out who you are and what it is you need to do to achieve your dreams. Failure happens but it’s how you react to it and what you do with it that counts.
While these tips and observations may not make you a world class athlete tomorrow they will help you to achieve both small and big things in life. These approaches will help you live big and happy!
Take some time to think about some of your favorite athletes or other heroes. How did they get where they are? What you can take away from their lives? How can you incorporate so of these tools and techniques into yours? It’s easier than you think.
